Let’s imagine an attic, a dim light, an acoustic guitar. From here are born Francesco Renna’s songs, among post-its, notes, handwritten letters, dylanian visions, bossa nova harmonies, blues rhythms and photos patchworks.
Roots are purely of a songwriter, but the approach to the songs can really refer to Chris Rea or Willie Nelson. “Some years ago I tended to push my songs into a forced dimension, which not only perverted their nature, but also contributed to kill them. Now I can say to give more space to lyrics and music in an interpretative way, trying to make them free, not packaged“.
If the starting point is an ordinary room, we can say that the finishing point is the heart, in its folk simplicity, in its Brazilian deepness and in its blues spirit.
The way which FR talks is immediate, but this doesn’t take space away from the dream, instead it enhances it, in the bravery of who has still the strength to hope.
Francesco Renna was born in Irpinia on January 1987.
He began to play guitar and harmonica when he was a teenager. From then on he writes and sings his songs.
On September 2011 came out his first LP, produced by himself with the title “Appunti dal Blu”.
